What is a Paper Wallet?

What is a Paper Wallet (Receipt with 2 QR Codes) from Metrofino BTM?

If you've recently purchased cryptocurrency from a Metrofino BTM machine and selected the option to "create new wallet," you should have received two printed receipts.

1. Paper Wallet Receipt

The first receipt you receive looks like the image below and contains two QR codes. DO NOT discard this receipt. This receipt is known as a paper wallet and holds your cryptocurrency securely. If you lose this receipt before you transfer the funds into a digital wallet, you could lose access to your cryptocurrency permanently.

Here’s what you need to know about the paper wallet:

  • One of the QR codes is your public address (used for receiving cryptocurrency).
  • The other QR code is your private key (used to access your funds).
It’s crucial to keep this receipt safe and never share your private key with anyone.

2. How to Use the Paper Wallet

Once you have your paper wallet, you can easily transfer the funds to a digital wallet of your choice. To do so, simply scan the private key QR code using a compatible wallet app to import your Bitcoin (or other cryptocurrencies) into your digital wallet.

Tip: Always use trusted and secure wallets to store your cryptocurrency.

3. Digital Wallets Explained

A digital wallet is an app or software that allows you to store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies securely. You can install one on your phone, desktop, or use a hardware wallet for extra protection. Once you import your funds from the paper wallet, you can manage your Bitcoin with the convenience of a digital wallet.

4. Transaction Receipt

The second receipt you receive is your transaction receipt. This receipt contains key details about your purchase, including the amount of cryptocurrency bought and the date of the transaction. This receipt is similar to the standard receipt you get from any ATM. Keep this receipt handy in case you ever need assistance with a transaction.

If you experience any issues with your purchase or have questions about your Bitcoin, our customer support team will likely ask for details from this receipt. It’s always a good idea to keep it safe for reference.

Note: While the transaction receipt doesn't store your cryptocurrency, it’s important for verifying your purchase and handling any future inquiries.

By keeping both receipts safe, you ensure that your Bitcoin is secure and can easily be transferred to a digital wallet for ongoing use. If you have any further questions about paper wallets or digital wallets, feel free to contact Metrofino BTM support.
